The slogan, Science and culture for nature, defines the mission of the "Anastasie Fătu" Botanical Garden within "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iași, considered a unique institution at the regional level, representative through the value and recognition of its results, both nationally and internationally.
The unique character of the Botanical Garden of Iași is conferred by the remarkable patrimonial value of the scientific collections, and the section intended for people with visual disabilities, where the plant species, rich in essential oils, are provided with explanations in Braille.
The scientific plant collections represent the biological material for carrying out practical activities with students, respectively for the conservation of the genetic fund of indigenous and exotic plants, for research in the field of plant biology, for the ex situ conservation of plants, for ecological education and recreation in nature. Through the diversity of the scientific topics, through the natural background and through the area it occupies in Dealul Copoului, it allows addressing complex problems of landscape architecture and urban biodiversity conservation. Aspects related to the conservation of native species and traditional varieties, rare plants and those affected by overexploitation are treated as priorities.
The traditional annual exhibitions that integrate the scientific collections of plants cultivated in the Botanical Garden, as well as the cultural events organized in collaboration with various institutions, are of particular interest to tourists from the country or abroad, or for people eager to be closer to nature.
